La Liga Round 43 (Regular Season): Obera keep a leadership position

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Obera as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Obera defeated 10th ranked Boca Juniors at home 78-62. It was a great evening for Bruno Sansimoni (194-1996) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 assists. American-Mexican forward Daviyon Draper (200-1994, college: FIU) helped adding 15 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side the former international swingman Martin Cuello (193-1993) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Boca Juniors' coach Gonzalo Perez rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Obera have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Defending champion Boca Juniors keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Penarol. Boca Juniors will play next round against La Union trying to get back on the winning streak. Obera will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Gimnasia in Comodoro Rivadavia.
An interesting game took place in Chivilcoy where higher ranked San Martin (14-17) was upset on the court of seventeenth ranked Racing Ch. (12-20) 91-74. It was an exceptional evening for Norberto Stucky who led the winners and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Thomas Cooper accounted for 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. point guard Victor Fernandez (180-1999) came up with 23 points and 4 assists for San Martin in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Racing Ch. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixteenth place. San Martin at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Racing Ch. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San Martin will play on the road against Argentino (#19) in Junin and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Federico Zezular fired 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Lathaniel Bastian produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Obras moved-up to eighth place. Argentino lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 24 lost games. Obras will meet Union (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Argentino will play against San Martin (#12) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 43: Olimpico lost to San Lorenzo on the opponent's court 69-80. Atenas unfortunately lost to Instituto in a home game 73-85. Regatas managed to beat Union on the road 89-83.

Point guard Lucas Perez (184-1987) fired 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. The former international guard Selem Safar (191-1987) chipped in 21 points. San Lorenzo's coach Sebastian Burtin used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Venezuelan forward Jose Ascanio (204-1996) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and Venezuelan point guard Edwin Mijares (186-1992) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. American forward Nakye Sanders (202-1997, college: Towson) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Danjel Purifoy (201-1995, college: Auburn, agency: Helping Ballers) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Instituto and five Atenas players scored in double figures. Instituto have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Atenas lost sixth consecutive game.
