Anyelo Cisneros claims Argentinian La Liga weekly honour

Venezuelan Anyelo Cisneros (200-F-1997) had a great game in the last round for league's leader Gimnasia y Esgrima Comodoro Rivadavia and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 44.
The 28-year old forward had a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds, while his team edged out Obera (#2, 20-11) 84-83. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Gimnasia to consolidate first place in the Argentinian La Liga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Gimnasia has a very solid 22-11 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Cisneros had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Gimnasia and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Anyelo Cisneros averages this season 12.8ppg and 5.1rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young shooting guard Franco Mendez (188-SG-2002) of San Martin Corrientes. Mendez impressed basketball fans with 36 points and 4 rebounds. It was enough for San Martin to edge the lower-ranked Argentino (#19, 6-25) by 3 points 82-79. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. San Martin keeps 12th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 15-17 record. Mendez is one of the most experienced players at San Martin and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was international guard Tomas Monacchi (198-SG-1997) of Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba (#4). Monacchi scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). Despite Monacchi's great performance the Instituto lost 68-83 to the lower-ranked Penarol (#10, 17-15). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Instituto needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 20 victories and 14 lost games. Monacchi has a great season in Argentina. After 34 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.1rpg (5th best). He also has a FGP of 53.4% and 3PT: 41.1%.
