The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 5 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

LDB top team - Instituto (26-5) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked Penarol (12-20) in Cordoba 110-73. Instituto dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Penarol's 44. Instituto forced 26 Penarol turnovers and outrebounded them 43-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. Instituto looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Penarol's players. Colombian forward Jerson Caicedo (204-2004) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Lucas Andersson chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Instituto's coach Ignacio Giambartolomei felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Tomas Martinez with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Instituto have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 26-5 record. Penarol lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 20 games lost. Instituto will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Penarol will play at home against Union (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Florida. Ninth ranked Racing Ch. (16-16) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Platense (20-10) 81-79 on Tuesday evening. Tomas Delia notched 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Joaquin Capurro supported him with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 20 points and 4 assists by swingman Mariano Goicoechea (195-2004) did not help to save the game for Platense. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Racing Ch. maintains ninth position with 16-16 record. Platense at the other side keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Racing Ch. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Platense will play on the road against Atenas (#15) in Cordoba and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Atenas maintains fifteenth position with 11-20 record. Penarol lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 20 games lost. Atenas will meet at home higher ranked Platense (#5) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Penarol will play against Union (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 42 Obras won against Union on the opponent's court 88-79. San Lorenzo unfortunately lost to Gimnasia in a home game 62-66.




Union - Obras 79-88

Very expected game in Santa Fe where 14th ranked Union (11-19) was defeated by fourth ranked Obras (24-4) 88-79 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was power forward Valentino Finetti (204-2005) who scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. point guard Juan Respaud (190-2005) chipped in 19 points. Four Obras players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Pablo Spies who recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Bautista Bianchi added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Union's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Obras moved-up to third place. Loser Union keeps the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. Obras will meet Independ.O. (#7) in the next round. Union will play against Penarol (#13) in Mar del Plata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There was a small surprise in Almagra where twelfth ranked Gimnasia CR (13-19) defeated 9th ranked San Lorenzo (15-16) 66-62 on Monday. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan power forward Jesus Centeno (205-2006) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Natalio Santacroce chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Gimnasia CR players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Ivan Villarroel who recorded 14 points and 5 rebounds and Santiago Tallade added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. San Lorenzo's coach Juan Veira rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gimnasia maintains twelfth position with 13-19 record. Loser San Lorenzo dropped to the tenth place with 16 games lost. Gimnasia will meet at home Argentino (#17) in the next round where they are favorite. San Lorenzo will play against Ferro (#6) in Buenos Aires and hope to secure a win.
