NPBA Round 6 (Regular Season): Island DR lose to Shockers

Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Island DR (2-1). They were crushed by sixth ranked Shockers (1-1) 101-69 on Wednesday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Island DR. Shockers forced 21 Island DR turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international guard Michael Carey (196-1993, college: Wagner) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and William Rigby chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. The best for the losing side was Tevin Hudson with 30 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Shockers went down to seventh position due to points difference. Island DR at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Giants and Tucker Boys. They were replaced at the leadership position by Rockets. Island DR will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Shockers will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Giants. It will be extra interesting game as Giants is their local rival from Nassau.

Rockets defeated 8th ranked TMT Giants in Nassau 91-74. Devon Ferguson notched 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Chris Storr supported him with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Even 26 points and 6 assists by Christoph McKenzie did not help to save the game for TMT Giants. TMT Giants' coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rockets have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sand Dollar. TMT Giants lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with three games lost. TMT Giants will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Rockets will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Stampers at home.
Undefeated Shockers (1-1) recorded its first loss on the court of sixth ranked Bamboo SE on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Bamboo SE 100-95. The best player for the winners was Lenny Oscar who scored 28 points and 6 rebounds. Bamboo SE's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was William Rigby who recorded a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Bamboo SE (3-1) moved-up to third place. Loser Shockers dropped to the seventh position with one game lost. Bamboo SE will meet at home Tucker Boys (#6) in the next round. Shockers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nassau to the arena Giants.

In the last game of round 6 winless Mekaddish M. lost to undefeated Sand Dollar on the opponent's court 62-87.

Bamboo SE - Shockers 100-95

Undefeated Shockers (1-1) recorded its first loss on the court of sixth ranked Bamboo SE on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Bamboo SE 100-95. Bamboo SE forced 22 Shockers turnovers. The best player for the winners was point guard Lenny Oscar who scored 28 points and 6 rebounds. Guard David Taylor chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Bamboo SE's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was William Rigby who recorded a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and Malieck Johnson added 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bamboo SE (3-1) moved-up to third place. Loser Shockers dropped to the seventh position with one game lost. Bamboo SE will meet at home Tucker Boys (#6) in the next round. Shockers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nassau to the arena Giants.

Sand Dollar - Mekaddish M. 87-62

Very expected game in Nassau where bottom-ranked Mekaddish M. (0-3) was crushed by top-ranked Sand Dollar (3-0) 87-62 on Friday. Sand Dollar dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Mekaddish M.'s 28. Sand Dollar forced 19 Mekaddish M. turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Alexander Rolle (-1993) who scored 13 points and 9 assists. Jeremy Neely chipped in 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Sand Dollar players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international forward Qyemah Gibson (196-1997, college: St.Mary's) who recorded 22 points and 5 rebounds and Chadwin James added 13 points respectively. Mekaddish M.'s coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Sand Dollar have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Rockets. Newly promoted Mekaddish M. still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Regulators. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
