NPBA Round 6 (Regular Season): High Flyers beat Shockers by two after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 6 in the NPBA took place in Nassau. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Shockers (3-4) to top-ranked High Flyers (6-0) 87-85 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. High Flyers forced 27 Shockers turnovers. It was a good game for center Kemsey Sylvestre who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Shantoin Pratt contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. William Rigby replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for Shockers. Shockers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated High Flyers have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Shockers at the other side dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Millionaires. High Flyers are looking forward to face Rebels (#5) in the next round. Shockers will play against Titans and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Nassau: Zulu MM (#4) and TMT Giants (#8). TMT Giants were smashed at home by 22 points 60-82 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Kenrico Rolle had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 25 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Bertrum Minns chipped in 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Zulu MM's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Canadian guard Zachary Pennerman (, college: Mount Allison) with 21 points. Zulu MM have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Rockets. TMT Giants at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Tucker Boys. Zulu MM will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. TMT Giants will play against Titans (#10) and hope to get finally their first victory.

Rockets have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader High Flyers, which they share with Zulu MM. Newly promoted Titans still closes the standings with six games lost. Rockets' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau Giants.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 6: Rebels were beaten by Shockers on the road 80-75. Winless Titans lost to Shockers on its own court 59-73. Giants outscored Millionaires in Nassau 94-67.
The most impressive performance of 6th round was 25 points and 12 rebounds by Christorr Storr of Millionaires.



Titans - Rockets 58-73

Bottom-ranked Titans is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to third ranked Rockets (4-1) 73-58 on Monday evening. The former international guard Abel Joseph (200-1990, college: Holland) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Roosevelt Whylly supported him with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Four Rockets players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Dwajaneil Dorsett did not help to save the game for Titans. Forward Kenneth Reckley (198, college: Niagara) added 11 points and 12 rebounds. Rockets have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader High Flyers, which they share with Zulu MM. Newly promoted Titans still closes the standings with six games lost. Rockets' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau Giants.

Shockers - Rebels 80-75

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Shockers (3-4) beat 5th ranked Rebels (4-3) in Nassau 80-75 on Wednesday. Shockers forced 24 Rebels turnovers. William Rigby notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and Christian Johnson supported him with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Shockers' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds by Ishad Rolle did not help to save the game for Rebels. Levanti Roberts added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Rebels players scored in double figures. Shockers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Millionaires. Loser Rebels keep the fifth position with three games lost. Shockers will meet at home bottom-ranked Titans (#10) in the next round. Rebels will play against the league's leader High Flyers (#1) and hope to secure a win.

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Titans (0-6) lost at home to seventh ranked Shockers (3-4) 73-59 on Friday. Shockers forced 35 Titans turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Dario Mckenzie notched 5 points, 9 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals to lead the effort and William Rigby supported him with 15 points. Shockers' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 11 points, 24 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 blocks by forward Kenneth Reckley (198, college: Niagara) did not help to save the game for Titans. Devon Curtis added 22 points. Shockers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Millionaires. Newly promoted Titans still closes the standings with six games lost. Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Nassau: Zulu MM (#4) and TMT Giants (#8). Rather predictable result when top-ranked Giants (5-0) rolled over on the road 6th ranked Millionaires (3-4) 94-67 on Saturday. Giants dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Millionaires' 38. They outrebounded Millionaires 56-41 including 19 on the offensive glass. Guard Van Hutchinson (193) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international guard Jackson Jacob (186-1990, college: NAIT) supported him with 22 points and 4 assists. Five Giants players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds by Christorr Storr did not help to save the game for Millionaires.
