NPBA Round 16 (Regular Season): High Flyers lose #1 position

The Regular Season in NPBA just ended. Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Round 16 in NPBA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Nassau where host Giants (14-1) edged league's leader High Flyers (13-2) 78-76 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of High Flyers. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Giants dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to High Flyers' 32. They outrebounded High Flyers 74-40 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international swingman Dylan Musgrove (190, college: Southeastern) fired 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Eugene Bain (195-1988, college: Bellevue) chipped in 13 points and 13 rebounds. Center Kemsey Sylvestre produced 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Giants have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. High Flyers at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Giants.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Nassau: High Flyers (#1) and TMT Giants (#7). High Flyers (13-2) smashed visiting TMT Giants (5-11) by 17 points 66-49. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Qyemah Gibson (196-1997, college: St.Mary's) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 6 rebounds. Troy Trembly contributed with 4 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. High Flyers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Christopher Johnson (190-2000, college: CCBC Catonsv.) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds for TMT Giants. High Flyers have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory High Flyers went down to second position due to points difference. TMT Giants lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 11 games lost.

Worth to mention a quality performance of Cruz Simon who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side Devon Curtis responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Zulu MM maintains fourth position with 9-5 record. Newly promoted Titans keep the ninth place with 12 games lost.




Zulu MM - Titans 86-56

The game with biggest result difference took place in Nassau. Local Zulu MM (9-5) outscored 9th ranked Titans (4-12) 86-56 on Monday night. Zulu MM held Titans to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Zulu MM forced 20 Titans turnovers and outrebounded them 56-45 including 42 on the defensive glass. Zulu MM looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Titans' players. Worth to mention a quality performance of Cruz Simon who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 5 rebounds and Rus-Shon Strachan who added 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Devon Curtis responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Benjamin Cornish scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Zulu MM maintains fourth position with 9-5 record. Newly promoted Titans keep the ninth place with 12 games lost.
