BABA Round 17: Derby game ends with Pinelands' defeat of Celtics

The Regular Season in BABA just ended. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bridgetown: Pinelands (#1) and Celtics (#7). Celtics were crushed at home by 44 points 80-124 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Pinelands forced 32 Celtics turnovers and had a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Celtics' players. Guard Derion Hurley orchestrated the victory by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Guard Rasheed Maynard (188-2000) contributed with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Stephenson Callender answered with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for Celtics. Pinelands (12-1) have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place. Celtics lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost.

Spartans were crushed at home by 60 points 41-101 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Guard Dijon Hunte stepped up and scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Gavin Phillips chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Cavaliers' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jered Alleyne responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cavaliers. They maintain second place with 11-1 record behind leader Pinelands. Spartans lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with ten games lost.

Sydney Rowe came up with 7 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for Celtics in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cavaliers. They maintain second place with 11-1 record behind leader Pinelands. Celtics lost their eleventh game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost.

In the last two games of round 17 Bulls were beaten by Pinelands on the road 88-83. Lakers destroyed Spartans on its own court 121-90.
The most impressive performance of 17th round was 34 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists by Justin Bramao of Lakers.



Celtics - Pinelands 80-124

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Bridgetown: Cavaliers (#2) and Spartans (#5). Spartans were crushed at home by 60 points 41-101 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Cavaliers dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Spartans' 26. Cavaliers forced 26 Spartans turnovers and outrebounded them 60-35 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Spartans' players. Guard Dijon Hunte stepped up and scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and guard Gavin Phillips chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Cavaliers players scored in double figures. Cavaliers' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. No shocking result in a game when first ranked Pinelands (12-1) beat 3rd placed Bulls (7-5) in Bridgetown 88-83 on Saturday. Pinelands outrebounded Bulls 57-36 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Derion Hurley nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and guard Rasheed Maynard (188-2000) accounted for 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Kyrone Alexander (192-2003) came up with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Simeon Maynard added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Bulls in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the twelfth consecutive win for Pinelands. They maintain first place with 12-1 record. Defending champion Bulls keep the third position with five games lost. They share it with Lakers.
