BABA Round 12 (Regular Season): Bulls hand first loss to Pinelands

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Pinelands (13-1) in Bridgetown on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Bulls (10-4) 86-84. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Pinelands. It was a good game for the former international power forward Akeem Marsh (208-1986) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists. Simeon Maynard contributed with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Rasheed Maynard (188-2000) replied with 42 points (!!!) and 7 assists for Pinelands. Bulls have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 10-4 record having just three points less than leader Pinelands. Defending champion Pinelands still keep top place with one game lost.
Important game to mention about took place in Bridgetown. First ranked Pinelands (13-1) saved a 3-point derby victory on the road edging second-best Cavaliers (11-3) 73-70 in the game for the first place. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Rasheed Maynard (188-2000) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals and Deroni Hurley who added 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Deveron Knight (190-2000) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Pinelands have an impressive 13-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-1 record. Cavaliers at the other side keep the second place with three games lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bridgetown: Celtics (#4) and Spartans (#8). Celtics (9-5) smashed visiting Spartans (0-14) by 27 points 82-55. The winners were led by Joel Hunte who scored that evening 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Celtics' coach C Vanderpool felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds by Karlos Greenidge did not help to save the game for Spartans. Celtics maintains fourth position with 9-5 record. Loser Spartans still closes the standings with 14 games lost.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 12: Bulls smashed Warrens on the road 95-66. Winless Spartans lost to Warrens on its own court 78-84. Lakers unfortunately lost to Tridents in Bridgetown 79-87.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 37 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists by Keefe Birkette of Lakers.



Warrens - Bulls 66-95

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Bulls (10-4) crushed on the road 7th ranked Warrens (3-11) 95-66 on Tuesday. Bulls forced 24 Warrens turnovers. The winners were led by Simeon Maynard who scored that evening 30 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international power forward Akeem Marsh (208-1986) supported him with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Bulls players scored in double figures. Even 18 points by guard Kaliel Austin did not help to save the game for Warrens. Center Jonathan Dottin (203) added 5 points and 14 rebounds. Bulls have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 10-4 record having just three points less than leader Pinelands. Warrens lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 11 games lost.

Spartans - Warrens 78-84

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Spartans' (0-14) home loss to seventh ranked Warrens (3-11) in Bridgetown 78-84 on Saturday. Warrens forced 20 Spartans turnovers. Strangely Spartans outrebounded Warrens 56-36 including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Kaliel Austin who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and guard Jamar King supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 12 points and 21 rebounds by Kadian Brathwaite did not help to save the game for Spartans. Karlos Greenidge added 15 points and 13 rebounds. Four Warrens and five Spartans players scored in double figures. Warrens maintains seventh position with 3-11 record. Loser Spartans still closes the standings with 14 games lost.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Tridents (5-9) won against 5th ranked Lakers (5-9) in Bridgetown 87-79 on Saturday. The winners were led by forward Antoine Winter who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and guard Nayiib Browne supported him with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Tridents players scored in double figures. Tridents' coach C. Edwards used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 37 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists by Keefe Birkette did not help to save the game for Lakers. Forward Primus Walrond (201, college: Baton Rouge) added 16 points and 8 rebounds. Tridents moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Lakers.
