BABA Round 6 (Regular Season): Cavaliers hand first loss to undefeated Celtics

The Regular Season in BABA just ended. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Celtics (6-1) in Bridgetown on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Cavaliers (7-0) 98-82. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Celtics. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Cavaliers dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Celtics' 38. They outrebounded Celtics 53-42 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cavaliers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for the former international guard Deveron Knight (195-2000) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Gavin Phillips contributed with 22 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Kiserian Adams (193-2000, college: Baton Rouge) replied with 35 points (!!!) and 5 assists for Celtics. Celtics' coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated Cavaliers have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Celtics at the other side keep the second place with one game lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Bridgetown: Lakers (#5) and Tridents (#8). Lakers (3-4) won against visiting Tridents (0-7) 110-97. Brandon Ruck had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Keefe Birkett chipped in 30 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Zane Gaskin with 29 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Tridents' coach tested twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Lakers maintains fifth position with 3-4 record. Tridents at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost.

Carl Thorpe notched 41 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks to lead the effort. Even 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds by Antoine Winter did not help to save the game for Bears. Bears' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pinelands maintains fourth position with 4-3 record. Newly promoted Bears keep the sixth place with five games lost.

In the last game of round 6 Warrens were beaten by Bulls on the road 87-73.



Lakers - Tridents 110-97

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Bridgetown: Lakers (#5) and Tridents (#8). Lakers (3-4) won against visiting Tridents (0-7) 110-97. Lakers shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Brandon Ruck had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Keefe Birkett (183-1988) chipped in 30 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Lakers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Zane Gaskin with 29 points, 5 assists and 5 steals and guard Darreon Griffin scored 24 points. Tridents' coach tested twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Lakers maintains fifth position with 3-4 record. Tridents at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost.

Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Bridgetown: Pinelands (#4) and Bears (#6). Pinelands (4-3) won against visiting Bears (2-5) 98-94. Pinelands dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Bears' 54. Pinelands forced 20 Bears turnovers. The former international Carl Thorpe (201-2001, college: York, NE) notched 41 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks to lead the effort and guard Rachad Hall (183) supported him with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Even 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds by Antoine Winter did not help to save the game for Bears. The former international Mark Bridgeman (198-1990) added 27 points and 12 rebounds. Bears' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pinelands maintains fourth position with 4-3 record. Newly promoted Bears keep the sixth place with five games lost.

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Bulls (5-2) beat 7th ranked Warrens (1-6) in Bridgetown 87-73 on Friday. Bulls forced 23 Warrens turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Warrens' players. Guard Andrew Ifill (180) notched a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and the former international guard Rahim Gibbons (178-1991) supported him with 19 points and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds by guard Jonathan Dottin (203) did not help to save the game for Warrens. Trishon Gaskin added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains third position with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader Cavaliers. Warrens lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with six games lost.
