Regular Season Round 15: Espanol O. - Las Animas 82-88

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Espanol O. (8-7) lost at home to sixth ranked Las Animas (8-6) 88-82 on Sunday. Las Animas made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Spanish Alejandro Vergara (196-1995) accounted for 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Argentinian point guard Nicolas Zurschmitten (183-1995) came up with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American power forward Anthony Lee (206-1991, college: Ohio St., agency: BIG) added 15 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Espanol O. in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Espanol O.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Las Animas moved-up to fifth place. Espanol O. lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Las Animas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Espanol O. will play against Tinguiririca (#14) in San Fernando and hope to secure a win.
