Argentina
Regular Season Round 28: Boca - Penarol 76-71
Date: January 7, 2021
There was no surprise in Buenos Aires where 9th ranked Penarol (5-7) was defeated by second ranked Boca Juniors (11-5) 76-71. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The winners were led by Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-94, college: Texas A&M) who scored that evening 14 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Federico Aguerre (203-88) supported him with 20 points. Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Boca Juniors players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by Tomas Monacchi (196-97) did not help to save the game for Penarol. Power forward Franco Pennacchiotti (205-90) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Penarol's coach Carlos Romano tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Boca Juniors maintains second position with 11-5 record behind leader Quimsa. Penarol at the other side keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. Boca Juniors' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Buenos Aires to the arena Obras.
