Regular Season Round 29: Penarol - Ferro 111-101

The game between ninth ranked Penarol (6-7) and 7th ranked Ferro (6-11) in Mar del Plata on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Penarol beat guests from Buenos Aires 111-101. Penarol outrebounded Ferro 47-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. Ferro was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Franco Pennacchiotti (205-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Diego Gerbaudo (178-89) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Penarol's coach Carlos Romano used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Uruguayan center Theo Metzger (200-99) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard Tomas Spano (183-98) added 14 points and 8 assists in the effort for Ferro. Five Penarol and four Ferro players scored in double figures. Penarol moved-up to seventh place. Ferro lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. Penarol will face higher ranked Gimnasia (#4) in Comodoro Rivadavia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ferro's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Buenos Aires Obras.
