Very important is a road loss of third ranked Gimnasia (10-6) against fourth ranked San Lorenzo (11-6) on Friday night. Visiting Gimnasia was defeated by San Lorenzo in a tough game in Almagra 76-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gimnasia. It was a key game for the second position in the league. International center Roberto Acuna (208-90) nailed 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and the former international guard Nicolas Romano (200-87) accounted for 9 points and 13 rebounds. Four San Lorenzo players scored in double figures. San Lorenzo's coach Silvio Santander used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Venezuelan forward Miguel Ruiz (197-90, agency: Pro Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and Juan Manuel Rivero (191-85) added 19 points respectively for Gimnasia in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for San Lorenzo. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Boca. Loser Gimnasia dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. San Lorenzo will meet CA Platense (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gimnasia will play against Penarol (#7) and hope to secure a win.
