Regular Season Round 31: Penarol - San Lorenzo 57-99
Date: January 12, 2021
The game in Mar del Plata supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked San Lorenzo (13-6) played at the court of 7th ranked Penarol (6-9). San Lorenzo smashed Penarol 99-57. They outrebounded Penarol 47-29 including a 39-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Lorenzo shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Penarol's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Leandro Cerminato (201-98) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 8 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!). The former international point guard Nicolas Aguirre (189-88) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Five San Lorenzo players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Diego Gerbaudo (178-89) answered with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Joaquin Valinotti (185-98) added 10 points in the effort for Penarol. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for San Lorenzo. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Instituto. Penarol at the other side dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost.
