Regular Season Round 42: San Martin - Penarol 55-57

Important game to mention about took place in Corrientes. Eighth ranked Penarol (9-14) saved a 2-point derby victory on the road edging higher ranked San Martin Corrientes (16-6) 57-55 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Power forward Franco Pennacchiotti (205-90) had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Markel Crawford (195-94, college: Ole Miss) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Emiliano Basabe (195-92) with 7 points and 10 rebounds and international Javier Saiz (206-94) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Penarol maintains eighth position with 9-14 record. San Martin Corrientes at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Instituto. Penarol will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San Martin Corrientes will play at home against La Union and hopes to get back on the winning track.
