There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Penarol (10-16) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Obera (7-18) 104-86 on Thursday. Obera shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Point guard Nicolas Paletta (179-87) had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Anthony Young (200-89, college: KWC) chipped in 30 points during the contest. Five Obera players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Franco Pennacchiotti (205-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Joaquin Valinotti (185-98) scored 7 points and 7 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Obera maintains tenth position with 7-18 record. Loser Penarol keeps the eighth place with 16 games lost. Obera will face Bahia (#10) in Bahia Blanca in the next round.
