The most exciting game of round 17 in the NBB took place in Sao Paulo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd placed Sao Paulo (17-5) to second ranked Minas (19-2) 92-90 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Sao Paulo. Minas shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 54.8 percentage. International forward Gui Santos (197-2) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard David Rossetto (184-92) contributed with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) answered with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-96) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Sao Paulo. Five Minas and four Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. Minas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 19-2 record behind leader Flamengo. Sao Paulo at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Minas are looking forward to face Vivo/Franca (#9) in Sao Paulo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sao Paulo will play on the road against the league's leader Flamengo (#1) in Rio de Janeiro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
