Very predictable result in Sao Paulo where second ranked Minas (20-3) defeated 10th ranked Vivo/Franca (11-13) 93-87 on Saturday. They outrebounded Vivo/Franca 31-16 including 24 on the defensive glass. American guard David Jackson (190-82, college: Penn St.) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international forward Gui Santos (197-2) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Minas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international forward Lucas Silva (208-95) with 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists and the former international Andre Bresolin (195-87) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Minas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 20-3 record having just three points less than leader Flamengo. Loser Vivo/Franca keeps the tenth place with 13 games lost. Minas will face Paulistano (#5) in Sao Paulo in the next round. Vivo/Franca will play on the road against Campo Mourao (#15) and hope to win that game.
