Corrientes can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Espanola (0-6) 84-55 on Sunday. Corrientes forced 19 Espanola turnovers and outrebounded them 48-36 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Corrientes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Espanola was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Sofia Cabrera (168) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. Abril Ramirez (167-0) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Corrientes players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Julieta Tubio who recorded 12 points and 6 rebounds and Ayelen Boujon added 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Corrientes maintains ninth position with 1-5 record. It was Espanola's sixth loss in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Corrientes will face higher ranked Los Indios (#7) in Moreno in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Espanola will play at home against Rocamora and hopes to get finally their first victory.
