There was a small surprise when fifth ranked CA Platense (18-17) outplayed 3rd placed San Martin Corrientes (22-11) in Florida 83-63 on Saturday. CA Platense outrebounded San Martin Corrientes 38-24 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Facundo Vazquez (185-98) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized American power forward Phillip Lockett (202-88) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five CA Platense players scored in double figures. International Matias Solanas (192-98) answered with 12 points and 6 assists and point guard Gaston Garcia (187-98) added 13 points and 4 steals in the effort for San Martin Corrientes. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. CA Platense maintains fifth place with 18-17 record. Loser San Martin Corrientes keeps the third position with 11 games lost. CA Platense will face again higher ranked San Martin Corrientes (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
