There was no surprise when 9th ranked Fortaleza (12-12) was outleveled on the road by third ranked Sao Paulo (19-7) 98-76. Sao Paulo players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-96) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) who added 20 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. American point guard Dontrell Brite (175-94, college: Mount Olive) responded with 18 points and 6 assists and center Thiago Mathias (208-89, college: N.Mexico JC) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sao Paulo maintains third position with 19-7 record having three points less than leader Flamengo. Fortaleza at the other side keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Sao Paulo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fortaleza will play at home against Paulistano (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
