The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Quimsa (27-6) in Santiado del Estero on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Gimnasia (21-13) 76-70. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Quimsa. Gimnasia had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-97, agency: Pro Sports) scored 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Juan Manuel Rivero (191-85) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gimnasia moved-up to third place, which they share with Obras. Defending champion Quimsa still keeps top position with six games lost. Gimnasia is looking forward to face Libertad Sunchales (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Quimsa will play against H.Americano (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
