Very expected game when 14th ranked Penarol (14-22) lost on the road to fifth ranked Olimpico de La Banda (19-16) 80-72 on Thursday. Olimpico de La Banda dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Penarol's 28. The former international Eric Flor (190-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points. Swingman Federico Grun (191-96) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American guard Sundiata Gaines (185-86, college: Georgia) replied with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import Tony Mitchell (198-89, college: Alabama) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Penarol. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpico de La Banda have a solid four-game winning streak. Despite that victory Olimpico de La Banda went down to ninth position due to points difference. Loser Penarol dropped to the sixteenth place with 22 games lost.
