There was no surprise in Rio Gallegos where 11th ranked H.Americano (17-20) was defeated by ninth ranked Olimpico de La Banda (20-18) 90-75 on Saturday. Olimpico de La Banda outrebounded H.Americano 42-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. Swingman Federico Grun (191-96) scored 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Eric Flor (190-93) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Olimpico de La Banda players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Thomas Cooper (196-92, college: Calgary) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and Bruno Sansimoni (194-96) scored 18 points. H.Americano's coach Gabriel Piccato gave the chance to play for ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Olimpico de La Banda maintains ninth position with 20-18 record. Loser H.Americano keeps the eleventh place with 20 games lost. Olimpico de La Banda will meet higher ranked Instituto (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. H.Americano will play against the league's leader Quimsa having rather not much hope for a victory.
