Uruguay
Regular Season Round 4: Urunday - Defensor 66-76
Date: March 31, 2021
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Defensor (#8) and Urunday (#2). Urunday was defeated at home 66-76 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Urunday. Defensor brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Josh Boone (208-84, college: UConn) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Gabriel Belardo (188-89, college: FIU) who added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Belardo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Defensor players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Tyrone Lee (206-90, college: GVSU) responded with 23 points and guard Marcus Elliott (196-84, college: Louisiana Tech) scored 17 points. Defensor (2-2) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Aguada and Capitol. Urunday at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Olimpia and Nacional. Defensor's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Bigua.
