Regular Season Round 7: Defensor - Malvin 69-84
Date: April 10, 2021
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Montevideo: Malvin (#3) and Defensor (#8). Defensor was defeated at home 69-84 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Malvin dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Defensor's 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a great evening for naturalized German center Kiril Wachsmann (203-84, college: Iona) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Mexican forward Aaron Fuller (198-89, college: USC, agency: Haylett Sports) helped adding 20 points and 6 rebounds. Five Malvin players scored in double figures. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, college: Kent St., agency: Network Sports International) responded with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and American power forward Josh Boone (208-84, college: UConn) scored 7 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Malvin (5-2) moved-up to second place. Defensor at the other side keeps the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Hebraica and Penarol. Malvin's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Bigua.
