Regular Season Round 8: Malvin - Bigua 91-95

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Bigua (#7) and Malvin (#2). Malvin was defeated at home 91-95 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Strangely Malvin outrebounded Bigua 41-28 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Donald Sims (190-87, college: App State, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 21 points and 9 assists. Diego Pena Garcia chipped in 23 points. Swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-99) produced 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized German center Kiril Wachsmann (203-84, college: Iona) added 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Malvin's coach Federico Camina rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bigua (4-2) moved-up to sixth place. Loser Malvin dropped to the fifth position with three games lost.
