The game in Torreon was also quite interesting. Second ranked Barreteras (4-4) played at the court of 5th ranked Algodoneras (1-7). Barreteras managed to secure a 8-point victory 78-70 on Sunday. Barreteras forced 19 Algodoneras turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Ashanti Hunt (180-96, college: BCU) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. The former international power forward Rosaura Guardiola (180-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Four Barreteras players scored in double figures. American guard Brittany Byrd (175, college: UIC) produced 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Rayven Lasem added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Barreteras have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-4 record having four points less than leader Lobas, which they share with Escaramuzas and Racers. Algodoneras lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Barreteras will face Racers (#3) in Saltillo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Algodoneras will play on the road against the league's leader Lobas in Ciudad de Mexico and hope to win that game.
