Regular Season Round 10: Bigua - Penarol 92-93

A very interesting game took place in Montevideo. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Bigua (4-4) to ninth ranked Penarol (5-4) 93-92 on Wednesday evening. Penarol dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Bigua's 34. They outrebounded Bigua 46-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Penarol players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. American power forward Jarrid Famous (211-88, college: S.Florida, agency: BIG) fired 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Naturalized Spanish guard Gustavo Barrera (194-85) chipped in 5 points, 6 rebounds and 16 assists. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. American guard Donald Sims (190-87, college: App State, agency: Pensack Sports) produced 36 points (!!!) and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Victor Rudd (206-91, college: S.Florida) added 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for lost side. Penarol have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Capitol. Bigua at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Penarol's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Defensor.
