There was a minor upset in Maturin where 7th ranked Taurinos (2-7) were edged by ninth ranked Cangrejeros (1-6) 56-55 on Saturday. Cangrejeros had a 33-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Salvador Torres (194-96) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Asa Acosta (180-98) helped adding 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Jesus Rodriguez (200-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Michael Flores (192-85) scored 2 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Cangrejeros left bottom position moving up to eighth place. Loser Taurinos keep the seventh position with seven games lost. Cangrejeros will have a break next round.
