Regular Season Round 12: Taurinos - Cangrejeros 68-74

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in La Asuncion where 7th ranked Taurinos (2-8) were defeated by eighth ranked Cangrejeros (2-6) 74-68 on Monday. Cangrejeros dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Taurinos' 30. They outrebounded Taurinos 40-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Jorge Rondon (193-90) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Edixon Figueroa (187-94) chipped in 11 points. Four Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Michael Flores (192-85) who recorded 17 points and 4 assists and forward Jesus Rodriguez (200-93) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Cangrejeros moved-up to seventh place. Taurinos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Cangrejeros will face higher ranked Centauros (#5) in Margarita in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
