Regular Season Round 14: Broncos - Spartans 58-79
Date: May 1, 2021
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Caracas: Spartans (#1) and Broncos (#3). Broncos were smashed at home by 21 points 58-79 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Spartans outrebounded Broncos 42-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Nelson Palacios (192-92) who scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. International guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-95) chipped in 16 points. The former international center Luis Julio (201-80) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Colombian Hector Diaz (192-92) added 8 points and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Spartans have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-2 record. Broncos at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. Spartans' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena .
