Very expected game when 7th ranked Cangrejeros (2-8) lost to third ranked Gigantes (9-4) in Maturin 62-76 on Saturday. Gigantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Cangrejeros' players. Gregory Curvelo (195-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Swingman Luis Duarte (190-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Jorge Rondon (193-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Salvador Torres (194-96) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cangrejeros. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gigantes have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Trotamundos. Loser Cangrejeros keep the seventh position with eight games lost. Gigantes will have a break next round. Cangrejeros will play on the road against the league's leader Guaiqueries (#1) in Porlamar and hope to win that game.
