Regular Season Round 11: Capitol - Nacional 84-102
Date: May 2, 2021
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Nacional (#2) and Capitol (#7). Capitol was crushed at home by 18 points 84-102 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Nacional forced 20 Capitol turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Charles Mitchell (203-93, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Slash Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Manuel Romero (183-92) accounted for 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Five Nacional players scored in double figures. Guard Salvador Zanotta (185-95) came up with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and American guard Davaunta Thomas (196-95, college: UAFS) added 21 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Capitol in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nacional (7-3) used an opportunity after Olimpia lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Capitol lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. Nacional's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Urunday.
