Regular Season Round 13: Racers - Mexcaltecas 71-76

The most shocking disappointment of round 13 in the LMBPF was a home defeat of much higher ranked Racers (6-7) to fourth ranked Mexcaltecas (7-6) 76-71 in the game for the second place. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Mexcaltecas outrebounded Racers 49-32 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international guard Romina Berumen (177-87) stepped up and scored 14 points for the winners and Elaine Saldana chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side Nicole Millender responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Montsserrat Castaneda scored 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Racers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mexcaltecas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Racers lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Barreteras and Escaramuzas. Mexcaltecas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Racers will play again at home against the league's second-placed Mexcaltecas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
