Regular Season Round 14: Escaramuzas - Marineras 81-28
Date: May 9, 2021
Bottom-ranked Marineras (0-14) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their 14th consecutive match to third ranked Escaramuzas (7-7) 81-28. Escaramuzas held Marineras to an opponent 16.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 49.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Escaramuzas forced 21 Marineras turnovers and outrebounded them 56-32 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Jordan Wallace (190, college: Rutgers, agency: Gamble Sports Management) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. The former international forward Gladiana Avila (177-94) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Escaramuzas players scored in double figures. Argentinian guard Candela Foresto (163-99) replied with 8 points and Argentinian Julia Centurion added 4 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Marineras. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Escaramuzas moved-up to second place, which they share with Mexcaltecas and Racers. Marineras at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Escaramuzas' next round opponent will be Quetzales (#4) in Ciudad de Mexico. Marineras will play at home against the league's second-placed Mieleras and hope to get finally their first victory.
