Second Stage Round 3: Gigantes - Diablos 81-69

There was no surprise in Puerto Ordaz where Diablos (0-3) were defeated by Gigantes (2-0) 81-69. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Diablos' 30. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for swingman Luis Duarte (190-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Gigantes' coach Carlos Gil allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) answered with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international guard Michael Flores (192-85) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Diablos. Four Gigantes and five Diablos players scored in double figures. Gigantes will play against Gladiadores (#7) in Caracas in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Diablos will play at home against Centauros and hope to get finally their first victory.
