There was no surprise when 8th ranked Sp.America (12-11) lost on the road to fifth ranked Salta Basket (15-10) 75-70 on Monday. Salta Basket outrebounded Sp.America 40-24 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for point guard Nicolas Zurschmitten (183-95) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 assists. Brazilian Andre Coimbra (205-86, college: CMU) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. Salta Basket's coach Jose Luis Pisani used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized Italian center Omar Canton (205-82) answered with 18 points and point guard German Gonzalez (186-92) added 10 points and 5 assists in the effort for Sp.America. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Salta Basket have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 15-10 record. Loser Sp.America dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Salta Basket will face league's leader Echague in Parana in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sp.America will play against Estudiantes T. (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
