Regular Season Round 13: Las Animas - Puerto Montt 92-62

Liga Nacional top team - Las Animas (14-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Puerto Montt (4-11) in Valdivia 92-62. Las Animas dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Puerto Montt's 30. Las Animas forced 24 Puerto Montt turnovers and outrebounded them 39-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-85) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 21 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners. The former international guard Franco Morales (179-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists. The former international point guard Carlos Aranda (200-92) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and the former international center Jorge Valencia (206-77) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Las Animas and four Puerto Montt players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Las Animas maintains first place with 14-2 record. Puerto Montt lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Las Animas' next round opponent will be league's second-placed CD Puerto Varas at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Puerto Montt will play against AB Temuco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
