Regular Season Round 13: Ancud - Las Animas 90-61

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Las Animas (14-2) on the court of sixth ranked AB Ancud on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by AB Ancud 90-61. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Las Animas' 28. AB Ancud forced 19 Las Animas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Mario Pinto (197-94) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Carlos Sepulveda (195-83) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five AB Ancud players scored in double figures. AB Ancud's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Franco Morales (179-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-85) added 14 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Las Animas. AB Ancud maintains sixth place with 4-12 record. Las Animas at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. AB Ancud are looking forward to face higher ranked Deportivo Valdivia (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Las Animas will play against the league's second-placed CD Puerto Varas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
