Everything could happen in Ambato at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Caballeros and 6th ranked Santa Maria had identical 1-2 record. This time Caballeros used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from 71-55. Caballeros outrebounded Santa Maria 49-33 including a 38-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international power forward Carlos Delgado (202-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and forward Mairon Cuero (190-89) chipped in 9 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Caballeros players scored in double figures. Power forward Mateo Egas (-2) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Andres Conchambay (190-87) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caballeros maintains fourth place with 2-2 record. Santa Maria at the other side dropped to the bottom position with three games lost. They share it with Rincon dC and Sacramento. Caballeros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santa Maria will play at home against the league's second-placed Piratas (#2) to get more than just one victory in their record.
