First ranked Punto Rojo faced 3rd placed Importadora. Host Punto Rojo (6-1) smashed guests from Ambato (4-3) 73-53. Punto Rojo forced 19 Importadora turnovers and outrebounded them 43-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. The former international power forward Eduard Caicedo (196-90) fired a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Jorge Cabezas (-99) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Michael Torres (-2) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Alexaner Guerra (196-96) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Punto Rojo have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-1 record. Importadora at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Punto Rojo are looking forward to face Santa Maria (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Importadora will have a break next round.
