Regular Season Round 13: Santo Andre - Ituano 80-72

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Ituano (9-2) on the court of seventh ranked Santo Andre on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Santo Andre 80-72. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Ituano. Santo Andre dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Ituano's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Power forward Glenda Cruz (182-94) stepped up and scored 30 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Vanessa Goncalves (185-94) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Santo Andre players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Erika De Souza (197-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and the former international swingman Patricia Ribeiro (175-90) scored 26 points. Ituano's coach Bruno Guidorizzi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Santo Andre maintains seventh place with 4-8 record. Ituano at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Santo Andre are looking forward to face higher ranked Vera Cruz (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ituano will play against Blumenau and is hoping to win this game.
