A very close game took place in between LSB RJ and Blumenau. Sixth ranked LSB RJ (6-7) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Blumenau (5-7). LSB RJ managed to escape with a 2-point win 86-84 in the game for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Blumenau. LSB RJ forced 26 Blumenau turnovers. Strangely Blumenau outrebounded LSB RJ 48-30 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Marquita Daniels (170-95, college: Angelo St.) scored 26 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Juliana Ribeiro (189-94) chipped in 19 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. LSB RJ's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The former international swingman Carina Martins (175-92) responded with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and Kawanni Firmino (186-95) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. LSB RJ moved-up to fifth place. Loser Blumenau dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. LSB RJ will again meet Blumenau (#6) on the road in the next round. Blumenau will have a break next round.
