Regular Season Round 18: CD Valdivia - Puerto Varas 68-70

The most exciting game of round 18 in the Liga Nacional took place in Valdivia. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Deportivo Valdivia (10-8) to second ranked CD Puerto Varas (12-7) 70-68 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Deportivo Valdivia. The best player for the winners was American center Arnold Louis (201-90, college: SSU) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. The former international center Juan Fontena (196-87) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Gerardo Isla (201-91, college: Columbia, MO) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds and Franco Villalba added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. CD Puerto Varas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-7 record having just two points less than leader Las Animas which they share with defeated Deportivo Valdivia. Deportivo Valdivia at the other side dropped to the second place with eight games lost. They share the position with CDE Talca and Los Leones. CD Puerto Varas are looking forward to face AB Temuco (#4) on the road in the next round. Deportivo Valdivia's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Valdivia Las Animas.
