Regular Season Round 19: CD Valdivia - Las Animas 67-83

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Valdivia: Las Animas (#1) and Deportivo Valdivia (#3). Deportivo Valdivia was crushed at home by 16 points 67-83 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Las Animas dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Deportivo Valdivia's 28. They outrebounded Deportivo Valdivia 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Las Animas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Franco Morales (179-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 assists for the winners. Four Las Animas players scored in double figures. Las Animas' coach Jorge Luis Alvarez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian Nahuel Martinez (188-95) answered with 13 points and 4 assists and the former international power forward Gerardo Isla (201-91, college: Columbia, MO) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Deportivo Valdivia. Las Animas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-3 record. Deportivo Valdivia at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost.
