The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Sao Paulo (#4) and Pinheiros (#8). Sao Paulo (2-0) crushed visiting Pinheiros (0-2) by 26 points 101-75. Sao Paulo made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Pinheiros' players. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) who scored 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Gabriel Campos (179-1) who recorded 13 points and naturalized Portuguese forward Rafael Munford (195-98, college: Augusta) added 11 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sao Paulo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pinheiros will play at home against Osasco (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
