Regular Season Round 8: Sao Paulo - Sesi Franca 80-78

There was a change at the Paulista leadership position after last games. The most important game of round 8 took place in Sao Paulo between two undefeated teams where Sao Paulo edged Vivo/Franca (4-1) 80-78 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vivo/Franca. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Sao Paulo looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Elinho Corazza (192-89, college: Miami Dade CC) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American guard Cordero Bennett (185-88) who added 20 points during the contest. Five Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. International center Lucas Silva (208-95) responded with 29 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-96) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Sao Paulo (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Vivo/Franca at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Bauru and Paulistano. They were replaced at the leadership position by Sao Paulo. Vivo/Franca will play next round against Osasco trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Sao Paulo will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Rio Claro at home.
