Regular Season Round 2: Abejas - Panteras 95-81

First defeat of league's leader Panteras against Abejas 95-81 was the most important game of the last round. Abejas made 29-of-38 free shots (76.3 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Panteras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). The other American import center Gary McGhee (210-88, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Inception Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international Fabian Jaimes (198-92) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Blake Hamilton (198-94, college: Buffalo) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Panteras. Five Abejas and four Panteras players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panteras will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest. Abejas will try to continue on its current victory against Panteras in Aguascalientes.
