Regular Season Round 19: Brumas - Leon 87-78

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Brumas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Brumas defeated 7th ranked Leon in Jinotega 87-78. They outrebounded Leon 45-31 including 28 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American Timothy Simmons (195-92, college: DBU) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import forward Justin Miller (198-96, college: Detroit) helped adding 19 points and 12 rebounds. Five Brumas players scored in double figures. At the losing side Dominican center Miguel Almonte (211-91) responded with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks and Cuban Oreste Torres (204-87) scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Real Esteli and Cacique D. Leon at the other side keeps the seventh place with seven games lost.
